Fire warden courses and refreshers
It is good practice to have numerous staff in your workplace who are dedicated fire emergency wardens. A warden is a trained employee who can assist other staff members (and others) in an emergency by implementing safety procedures calmly and rationally.
Our fire warden training course includes:
- Highlighting the duties, a fire emergency warden performs
- How to understand a company's fire evacuation plan and implement it
- How to conduct training amongst employees, such as fire and evacuation drills
- Identifying fire risks and maintaining fire safety equipment
By law, the FENZ Fire Safety, Evacuation Procedures and Evacuation Schemes Regulations 2018 requires organisations such as childcare centres, schools, hospitals and hotels to have specific staff licensed as fire wardens at all times.
Buildings that require an evacuation scheme must have an evacuation training programme. It is the owner or landlord's responsibility to ensure the occupants of certain buildings can safely escape during a fire emergency. The training programme must include the correct use of firefighting equipment in the building. Additionally, the Health & Safety at Work Act states that a business owner has a primary duty of care to ensure the health and safety of workers while at work. Firewatch Tauranga training courses are tailor-made depending on your industry and the associated risks. In some cases, it may be best to have all staff trained to use a fire extinguisher while in others you may only need a select few trained. That means we don't have a set number of participants per course. Prices start from our basic package and we build from there depending on your needs. We will run multiple courses on-site with approximately 10 attendees per course to ensure everyone gets a turn with the VR fire simulator and a tailored fire response plan specifically for your worksite.
Since evacuation trainings need to be reported every six months as part of an evacuation scheme, we recommend that staff take our Fire Extinguisher Course and Fire Warden Course every two years so that employers meet their fire safety and health and safety obligations.
If you are within a 50km radius of our branch in Tauranga, we will bring our Virtual Reality simulator to your place of work for training.
We need an area which is clear of furniture and large enough (approx 3m x 3m) to hold up to 10 participants, where each person is able to move around within the space unobstructed as if participating in a real-live situation. The elements of the Virtual Reality scenario to be displayed will be tailored for each course.
If the there is no suitable clear area of approx 3m x 3m to hold up to 10 participants onsite, we can provide an offsite venue for $250.00 Excl GST. Please contact us to discuss this prior to your booking.
You can reschedule your course until the day before your training with no fees, though we appreciate as much notice as possible. Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur admin fee.
